Salvatore De Meo was born in Fondi (Latina) on 27 October 1971, he is married and is a father of two girls. In 1989, he graduated from Liceo Classico “P. Gobetti "of Fondi. In 1994, he graduated in Law from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", becoming a certified lawyer. In 1995, he became Director of a company operating in the MOF - Wholesale Agri-Food Centre of Fondi, one of the major European fruit and vegetable markets, applying his specific experience addressing the sector's issues. In 2001, he was elected as Municipal Councillor of Fondi with Forza Italia, and assumed the position of Deputy Vice- President of the Municipal Council. Since 2003, he has assumed the political role of Citizens’ Coordinator of Forza Italia and appointed Member of the Provincial Executive and Delegate of the Province of Latina at the 2nd National Congress of Forza Italia. In 2006, he was re-elected as Municipal Councillor on the Forza Italia list, taking up the post of Councillor of Urban Planning for the Municipality of Fondi. In 2009, he acted as Provincial Delegate in the National Congress for the establishment of Il Popolo della Liberta’ Party (PdL) and was confirmed as City Coordinator of Il Popolo della Liberta’. In 2009, he was elected Provincial Councillor of Latina with Il Popolo della Liberta’. During that same year, he was appointed as Member of the Provincial Board of the PdL. During the Administrative Elections of 28 - 29 March 2010, he was elected as Mayor of Fondi in the first round, with 55.60% of votes supported by a centre-right coalition in which Forza Italia represented the main party. During the Provincial Elections of 12 October 2014, he was re-elected as Councillor, becoming Forza Italia’s Group leader. In 2014, he was elected National Councillor at ANCI – The National Association of Italian Municipalities and also Vicar Vice-President for ANCI Lazio. In 2015, after the proposal of the Italian Government, and in the framework of ANCI, he was appointed as Member of the European Committee of the Regions, joining the European People's Party Group, and becoming a member of the ECON and NAT Commissions. During the Administrative Elections of 31 May 2015, he was re-elected as Mayor of Fondi in the first round, with 74.51% of votes, supported by a coalition composed of Forza Italia (43.33%) and Civic lists connected to it, formed by supporters of Forza Italia, obtaining 19 seats out of 24. In 2019, he became a candidate for the European Parliament in the central constituency (Lazio - Umbria - Tuscany and Marche) on the Forza Italia list and was elected with deferred settlement at the completion of the Brexit procedure, which took place on 31 January 2020. He is a Member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, substitute Member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection as well as the Commission for Industry, Research and Energy. He is a Member of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, and Substitute Member of the Delegation for relations with India and of the Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
