Gheorghe Falcă was born in Brad (Romania) in 1967. He is married and has a daughter. In 1994, he graduated in railways, roads and bridges engineering from the Traian Vuia Polytechnic Institute of Timișoara, Faculty of Civil Engineering. After obtaining his degree in engineering, he worked in his field of expertise at various specialised companies. As a young man, Gheorghe Falcă was a very active participant in the December 1989 Romanian Revolution in Timișoara, but also an important voice in the social arena. In 1990, immediately after the collapse of Communism, he became an elected member of the managing Board of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Timișoara. He has been a member of the Democratic Party since 1995. In 1996, he became President of the Municipal Youth Organisation of the Democratic Party, and immediately after, President at national level. Besides his political activities, Gheorghe Falcă has been an active member of the academic community in Arad since 2003, as a PhD Lecturer at the faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Physical Education and Sports at the Vasile Goldiș Western University of Arad. Between 2000-2004, Gheorghe Falcă held the position of Vice-President of Arad City Council, and from 2004 to 2019, he acted as Mayor of Arad. Meanwhile he was an active member in different local, national and international civic and political structures. He has held the position of President of the Liberal Party Arad since 2012, First Vice-President of the Romanian Municipalities Association, of which he was President between 2008-2011, and Executive President for one year, from 2011-2012. Gheorghe Falcă has been a member of the Committee of the Regions (COR), the Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and the Commission for Natural Resources since 2012. MEP since 2019.
