During the first meeting of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, the EPP candidate for the Commission Presidency Ursula von der Leyen assured that among the priorities for the next five years would be the environment, Ukraine, and most pertinently, the rule of law.

In the group, MEP & PN Head of Delegation David Casa spoke out about the results of the EP elections and highlighted the importance of delivering on the rule of law in Malta after a tense campaign by the Labour Government peppered by frequent attacks on the judiciary.

Casa referred to "important developments on the rule of law", describing the "terrible attack" on the judiciary, the media, and the two PN MEPs, branding them as traitors throughout the campaign.

"The situation of the rule of law in Malta has deteriorated significantly and will most likely only get worse,” Casa warned.
