Born in 1967, Marc Joulaud holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Law from the University of Maine (France) and a Law Degree from the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne). He also studied at the Institute for Political Science in Paris where he specialised in questions related to local authorities. He entered politics in 2001 as Municipal Councillor in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, after having worked with François Fillon for the city of Sablé-sur-Sarthe, the Sarthe General Council and the Pays de la Loire Regional Council. From 2002 to 2007 and from 2007 to 2012, he was a Member of the French National Assembly. He is currently Mayor of Sablé-sur-Sarthe and President of the Community of Communes of Sablé-sur-Sarthe. Specialised in the link between local authorities and European level authorities, and also in copyright law, digital and media questions, Marc Joulaud is a Member of the Committee on Regional Development and substitute in the Committee on Culture and Education of the European Parliament. MEP since 2014.
