Graduated from the Faculty of Polish Studies, Warsaw University. Worked at the Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Literary Criticism (1981-1991), Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland (1991-1992) and the Public Administration Reform Office (1992-1994). She was Editor of the public TV programme ‘Polish Questions’ (1994-1997), former Member of Warsaw City Council (1994-2005) and of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland (2005-2014) and Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (2007-2011). She participated in the International Visitor Programme, USA (1998), and in the OECD and European Commission Expert Group (Sigma Programme) gathering and updating information on anti-corruption and integrity frameworks for country assessment reports in Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey (2004). She is a former member of Transparency International Poland (Chair of the Board, 2001-2005) and the Press Freedom Monitoring Centre (2001-2005). She has published numerous articles on transparency of public life. MEP since 2014.
