Writer, clinical psychologist. 1974-1985: Professor of Social Psychology at Faculty of Law,ELTE. 1990-94: Deputy of FIDESZ for Budapest City Assembly. 1994-1998: Political advisor to the leader of FIDESZ parliamentary group, József Szájer. 1998-2000: Government Commissioner of Europalia Hungaria. Member of the Presidency of the Board of Trustees of Hungarian Radio, then of Duna Television delegated by FIDESZ (1996-2009). Vice-Chair of the Hungarian Civil Cooperation Association (1995-2009). Director of weekly political analysis programmes on Hír TV and Echo TV. Director of the Hamvas Béla Cultural Research Institute since 2000. Main areas of research are: Pressure mechanism of the communist system, functioning of communist state security, its heritage and afterlife in democracy today. 'Future of Literature' Prize (1989); Attila József Prize (1992). MEP since 2009.
