Slovakian MEP and president of the SME Europe Ivan Štefanec informs that SME Europe is launching a Europe-wide survey for small and medium enterprises and tradesmen, whose results will help with setting legislative for overcoming consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. SME Europe is a professional organisation within the European People’s Party which concerns itself with helping small and medium enterprises.
“Small and medium entrepreneurs and tradesmen are those, who suffer the most by the immediate economic consequences of the pandemic. Shops are closed, demand is decreasing, production and supply are stagnating. All the while, it’s the small enterprises that are the backbone of our economy. European union and many national governments have already announced various measures for their support. From SME Europe’s standpoint, we consider it key to ask them directly in what state their business currently is and what steps they consider as most effective in fighting the consequences of the pandemic. Based on the results and other analyses, we’ll be compiling and suggesting legislative measures on European union level that will enable them to bridge this period and get business started again as soon as possible.
