No one is believing Konrad Mizzi – PN MEPs
Important notice

“After one day of interviews in Malta the PANA committee confirms that the suspicion concerning Minister Konrad Mizzi is one of money laundering whilst the behaviour of the PM's Chief of Staff Keith Schembri is scandalous, stated the MEPs from Partit Nazzjonalista David Casa, Roberta Metsola and Therese Comodini Cachia this afternoon.
This was stated clearly by the Chair of the European Parliament Committee of Inquiry into Money Laundering, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion (PANA) Werner Langen during the press conference that was held yesterday in Malta in the context of their investigation.
MEPs David Casa, Roberta Metsola and Therese Comodini Cachia stated;
“Konrad Mizzi went to great lengths to justify his actions with the misplaced sense of self-pity and went so far as to question the objectivity of the committee for asking the questions that everybody is asking and presenting a questionable self-commissioned audit in an effort to exonerate himself – these were poor attempts that were not well-received by the PANA committee
Our assessment following yesterday’s meetings is that Konrad Mizzi, Keith Schembri and all those involved in the Panama Papers scandal were the subject of an indepth investigation by the FIAU.
The suspicion is clear in our mind that following the resignation of Michael Cassar, the subsequent appointment of Muscat’s crony police commissioner who seems to be refusing to act on the recommendation of the FIAU is intended to disrupt this process. The role of the Commissioner of Police is to protect the Maltese people and not the Prime Minister and his associates. As the PANA chairman insisted yesterday this situation would not have been tolerated in other democratic countries.
The Prime Minister’s desperate attempt to put the Panama Papers scandal behind him has once again failed. This is not over and it will not be until, as PN leader Simon Busuttil said, those responsible for criminal conduct are brought to justice and Malta’s reputation is restored. The truth will out”.
