Kalniete is elected deputy head of the Working Group on External Policies in the EPP Group

MEP Sandra Kalniete today has been elected Deputy Chair of the Working Group on External Policies of the European People's Party (EPP) Group.
The EPP's Working Group on External Policies plays a crucial role in shaping the European Union's foreign and security policy. It is responsible for preparing reports on the EU enlargement process, relations with Ukraine and third countries including Moldova, Georgia, China and the USA. The Working Group on External Policies also focuses on issues related to a secure information space and the fight against disinformation, as well as supports the European Parliament in its decision-making on international treaties.
Sandra Kalniete will work in the Working Group on External Policies on issues of the Committee on International Trade (INTA), including documents on EU financial and economic assistance to Ukraine.
Sandra Kalniete has a long-standing career in the EPP Group on foreign affairs, having previously been Vice President of the EPP Group for seven and a half years with responsibility for the foreign affairs portfolio.
