EPP Group to debate legislative priorities in Zagreb

The EPP Group will gather for its Study Days in Zagreb, Croatia, on Wednesday to debate its priorities for the upcoming legislative term. Croatian Prime Minister and President of the hosting Party HDZ, Andrej Plenković, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber MEP, and President of the EPP Party, Joseph Daul, will speak at the opening of the two-day event. Digital Europe, the European Green Deal, jobs and prosperity in Europe are the main topics to be debated in the presence of future European Commissioners belonging to the EPP family.

EPP Party to elect its leadership in Zagreb

The European People’s Party (EPP) will hold its Electoral Congress on 20 and 21 November in Zagreb, Croatia, where EPP Group MEPs will participate as delegates. The Congress will focus on effective policies to combat climate change, on empowering the younger generations, and the Western Balkans. Delegates will also elect the Party's Presidency, including the President, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary-General. 2000 participants from more than 40 countries will participate at the Congress in Zagreb. Finalising the Commissioners-designate hearings

Next week, the European Parliament is expected to complete the assessment of the future European Commissioners after the Foreign Affairs Committee evaluates the answers to supplementary questions of the Commissioner-designate for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, on Monday afternoon. "Olivér Várhelyi has shown that he is fit for the job", said Michael Gahler MEP, EPP Group Spokesman on Foreign Affairs. "During the hearing, Mr Várhelyi presented his ambitious agenda for EU enlargement to the Western Balkans and for our relationship with our neighbours in the East and South. He also made it very clear that as European Commissioner, he will act in the European interest and will not accept any instructions from outside”, highlighted Gahler.
