Greece: agreement with Eurogroup is not a blank cheque
The EPP Group welcomes the agreement that was reached today between the Eurogroup and Greece on the conditions for an extension of its bailout programme.
“European taxpayers are not going to pay for Mr Tsipras’ electoral promises. It is good news that the Greek Government has started to understand this", said Manfred Weber MEP, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
"But the list of reforms announced cannot be yet another list of empty promises. European partners are not giving Mr Tsipras a blank cheque. He and his government now have four months to prove their true willingness to pursue the reform path that was initiated by the previous Greek Government. This is the condition for the continuation of European solidarity towards Greece", said the Chairman of the biggest political group in the European Parliament.
