Researchers, patients, politicians, footballers to debate Europe's fight against cancer
Europe's long-awaited Beating Cancer Plan will be unveiled by the European Commission on Wednesday 3 February. Since stepping up the fight against cancer was an important election campaign pledge of the European People's Party in the 2019 European Elections, the EPP Group will debate the plan in a public event on Wednesday afternoon.
Former football stars, cancer researchers, cancer patient organisations and EU politicians will debate the next steps to be taken in Europe's fight against cancer.
#EUCanBeatCancer event: Wednesday 3 February 2021, 15:10 hrs (Brussels time).
Participants: Éric Abidal (former French professional footballer and cancer survivor), Matti Aapro (President of the European Cancer Organisation), Xosé Fernández (Insitut Curie, Paris), Margaritis Schinas (European Commission Vice-President), Mariya Gabriel (European Commissioner for Innovation and Research), Stella Kyriakides (European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety) and Manfred Weber MEP (EPP Group Chairman).
Journalists are invited to join a press briefing ahead of the event and also the event itself.
