On Wednesday 3 February, the EPP Group will gather with three European Commissioners, namely Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, European Commissioner for Promoting the European Way of Life, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides, and Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel. They will be accompanied by leading experts in the field, such as Dr Matti Aapro, President of the European Cancer Organisation and Dr Xosé Fernández, Chief Data Officer of the Insitut Curie in Paris, to discuss the next steps that Europe should take in the fight against cancer and to improve the lives of all Europeans.

Finding the COVID-19 vaccine has not only shown the immense potential of medical innovation, but also what we can achieve in Europe if we work together. While we are fighting the pandemic, we must not lose sight of what a heavy toll cancer takes on Europeans today.

One in two citizens will unfortunately have to face cancer in the course of their lives. For the EPP Group, the fight against cancer is a clear priority.

Following on from the EU Masterplan to fight Cancer, the European Commission will now unveil the Beating Cancer Plan.
