In an important step towards creating a recycling, circular economy, the European Parliament's Environment Committee approved legislation requiring EU Member States to recycle up to 80 percent of their waste by 2030. Shadow Rapporteur Karl-Heinz Florenz of the EPP Group says Europe needs to turn waste into raw materials to reduce its dependence on imported materials, including precious metals.
