From 2 to 5 July, the EPP Group will meet in Portugal for study days with the EPP Group’s MEPs, the President of the Portuguese Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa; the Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and the Presidents of the European Commission and Parliament Ursula von der Leyen and Roberta Metsola. The meeting will be chaired by Manfred Weber, the President of the EPP party and EPP Group.

Guest speakers at the EPP Group Study Days include President of the Spanish Partido Popular Alberto Núñez Feijóo; former Prime Minister of Portugal and former President of the Commission José Manuel Durão Barroso; Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel; Minister of Defence Nuno Melo; Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries José Manuel Fernandes; Minister of Environment and Energy Maria da Graça Carvalho; and the Mayors of Lisbon and Cascais, Carlos Moedas and Carlos Carreiras, among others.

"We are looking forward to going to Cascais to debate the strategic outlook for the new legislative term and EPP proposals for the new European Commission’s work programme. The EU must now focus on security, economic growth and stopping illegal migration. That is the clear expectation of the voters,” insists Manfred Weber.

Having won the European elections and remaining the largest group in the European Parliament, the EPP Group will use these four days of predominantly closed-door meetings to strategize for the 2024-2029 mandate. The agenda includes internal discussions among the 27 national delegations and sessions of the various working groups, covering topics such as Foreign Policy, Budget and Structural Policies, Economy and Environment, and Legal and Internal Affairs.
