EPP Group leading the drive for action against cancer

It is estimated that almost one in three Europeans will develop cancer in their lifetime.

The EPP Group has published a policy paper setting out 12 areas - including research, prevention, screening, early detection and palliative care - where it is calling for progress in the fight against cancer. For example, it wants to see the EU double its research spending on cancer research by 2024.

And it held a conference with MEPs, EU officials and cancer treatment organisations to encourage the EU to do more to help tackle this painful and debilitating disease.
