Loukas Fourlas was born in 1969 in Limassol. He is a graduate of the Department of Economics and Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He served as Vice-President of PROTOPORIA, a student political department of the Democratic Rally, and also as President of the EFEK, the National Student Union of Cypriots in Thessaloniki. In 2006, after obtaining his degrees, he attended the Universities of Columbia and George Washington in the USA through a scholarship, studying Research Journalism and International Crisis Coverage. He worked for 23 years as a journalist. During his career, he was a political editor, editor-in-chief and presented newscasts on state and private television. He presented the award-winning broadcast ΕΧΕΙΣ ΜΕΣΟΝ-EXEIS MESON for seven years, which gave citizens the opportunity to call in live and air the problems they were facing. Loucas Fourlas also collaborated with Greek Television Media for many years. Besides his professional and political activities during his student life, Loucas Fourlas was also a Press Secretary for the candidate of the Presidential Election of 2008, Ioannis Kasoulidis. He was also the first in the island’s history to be Press Secretary of the House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Last but not least, Loucas Fourlas is also well known for his intense social activity. He is Ambassador of the Charity Foundation HOPE and founder of the philanthropic organisation Little Heroes which helps children suffering from cancer. MEP since 2019.
