Born in Montellano (Seville) on 21 January 1957, Juan Ignacio Zoido Alvarez holds a Law Degree from the University of Seville, where he has also been a professor of civil law. He has belonged to the Spanish judiciary since 1982 and was promoted to magistrate in 1987. He was appointed Judge Dean of the Courts of Seville in 1992 and became part of the Government Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice. His political experience is extensive, having carried out different political positions since 1996. He was the General Director of the Ministry of Justice and Government Delegate in Castilla-La Mancha and in Andalucia. He became Mayor of Seville and President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces in 2011. He was elected as Member of the Regional Parliament in Andalucia and Member of the Spanish Congress. He became President of the Partido Popular in Andalucia and Member of the National Executive Committee of the Partido Popular. He was the Spanish Minister of Interior and Home Affairs in 2016. MEP since 2019.
