Born in 1952. Stopnica. Agricultural Economist. Master in Engineering (1976), PhD in Economic-Agricultural Studies (1986). Member of Polish People's Party (PSL). Lecturer at the Warsaw Agricultural University (1976- ). Director of the Foundation of Assistance Programmes for Agriculture (FAPA) (1994-1998). Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (2001-2003). Member of the Polish Parliament 1997-2004. Vice-chairman of the Economic Committee (1997-2001); Member of the Committee for European Integration (1997-2004). Member of the EU-Poland Joint Parliamentary Committee (1997-2001); observer to the EP (2003-2004); Member of the European Parliament (2004-); Member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (2004-); Sabstitute Member of the Committee on Regional Development (2004-). MEP since 2004.
