Born on 4 June 1958 in Palanga (Lithuania), Aušra Maldeikienė is a Doctor of Social Sciences (Economics), a politician, lecturer, teacher, publicist and author of books. In 2007, she received a Master’s in Religious Sciences from Vilnius University. In 2015, she was elected to the Vilnius City Council. In 2016, she was elected to the Seimas in a single-member district constituency of Žirmūnai (Vilnius City). As a Member of Parliament, she was a Deputy Chair of the Non-attached Members fraction and served as a Deputy Chair of the Committee on European Affairs and Member of the Committee on Audit (previously a Member of the Committee on Budget) , as well as a Member of the Commission for the Rights of People with Disabilities. In July 2019, Aušra Maldeikienė started her work as a Member of the European Parliament with the European People's Party Group (EPP Group), while she remains an independent political figure in Lithuania. She is a Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and of the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia. She is also a Substitute Member of the Committee on Budgets, the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality and the Delegation for relations with India. Aušra Maldeikienė has published over 1000 articles, translated 8 books and has written 12 books. MEP since 2019.
