Member of the National Board of FIDESZ - Hungarian Civic Party and Member of the Pastoral Council of the Esztergom - Budapest Diocese from 1995. Chairman of the Youth Partner Organisation of Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Party, 1996-2004. Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Member of the Committee on Migration, 1998–1999. Member of Hungarian Parliament, 1998-2004. Vice Chairman of the Committee of Youth and Sports, Deputy Group Leader of Fidesz. Observer in the European Parliament, 2003-2004. MEP since 2004.
