Protections for corrupt public officials last nail in the coffin of justice - Casa

The PN Head of Delegation in the European Parliament David Casa lambasted the push from Robert Abela’s government to provide protections for corrupt public officials and limiting access of private citizens to magisterial inquiries.
“Were it not for magisterial inquiries triggered by the actions of private citizens in the face of a hijacked police force and other institutions, progress to stop the daylight robbery of the Maltese people would be negligible.
“Prosecutions on the corrupt hospital deal and now resulting from the 17 Black inquiry in relation to the corrupt power station deal are only taking place because when the police refused to investigate recourse was made to a legal mechanism to trigger the magisterial inquiry, it is a measure of last resort that can be used to circumvent captured institutions. The Maltese government now wants to limit this too.
“This would be a consolidation of the collapse of the rule of law in Malta and the last nail in the coffin of justice,” claimed Mr Casa.
David Casa and Simon Busuttil through their lawyer Dr Jason Azzopardi and later joined by the NGO Repubblika are responsible for triggering the magisterial inquiry which it is being reported is leading to criminal charges against the alleged mastermind of the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia Yorgen Fenech as well as usual suspects Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri.
“If the wasn’t for the magisterial inquiry the Maltese people would have no hope of ever obtaining justice for after being betrayed and robbed.”
