The leadership of the EPP Group in the European Parliament will hold a special 3-day meeting in the Austrian capital Vienna from Wednesday to Friday this week. Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP/EPP) will join the event, which will be chaired by EPP Group Chairman Manfred Weber MEP. Angelika Winzig MEP, Head of the Austrian Delegation of the EPP Group, and Othmar Karas MEP, First Vice-President of the European Parliament, will contribute to debates with Austrian and European politicians and experts about the big challenges of our times, like the role of Europe in a changing world, and migration. High-ranking speakers include Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽaNO/EPP) and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković (HDZ/EPP).

There will be a press point with Chairman Weber and Chancellor Nehammer on Wednesday 7 December at 17.30 hrs. It will be streamed in English and in German (see below).

"I am looking forward to holding this meeting in Vienna, the beautiful capital of Austria. Together with Federal Chancellor Nehammer and the Slovak and Croatian Prime Ministers we will discuss key topics in Europe today. Migration is again high on the agenda and we will explore the role of Europe in a changing world. In these critical times, the EPP Group continues to work in the interest of all Europeans", Weber said.

"We are happy to host Chairman Manfred Weber and our fellow EPP colleagues from all over Europe in Vienna. I am looking forward to fruitful discussions. Facing extraordinary challenges for the citizens and enterprises of Europe, we have to be even more united in finding concrete solutions for a successful way towards peace, growth, jobs and prosperity in the European Union", Winzig said.

"Times of collective insecurity demand more than ever a policy that provides security. As the European People's Party, we are therefore called upon to stay on course and not to look populistically to the right. Our strength as the EPP lies in being the force of the centre and in being the people’s party in the best sense of the word", Karas concluded.
