EPP Group to debate Europe's social future in Bratislava
The EPP Group will hold its next Bureau meeting in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 28-29 January. The meeting will be led by Manfred Weber MEP, Chairman of the EPP Group, and will discuss two policy papers: The Future of Social Europe and The Mid-term Revision of the Multiannual Financial Framework (long-term EU budget).
The EPP Group, as a strong defender of the social market economy, will debate the future of Europe's social policy ahead of a European Commission proposal by Marianne Thyssen, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility. Marianne Thyssen, also a Vice-President of the European People's Party, will be among several key speakers on Thursday.
The EPP Group will also discuss the mid-term revision of the Multiannual Financial Framework of the long-term EU budget. The European Parliament (EP), as the budgetary authority, must ensure that Member States fulfil their budgetary commitments. Kristalina Georgieva, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Budget and Human Resources, will be among key speakers on Friday.
The EPP Group is the largest political group in the European Parliament with 216 Members. The Bureau consists of 60 of the most senior MEPs - the Presidency, Heads of National Delegations, Vice-Presidents and Quaestors of the European Parliament belonging to the Group, our EP Committee Chairmen, as well as other key policy-makers such as Group Spokespersons in EP Committees.
Along with prominent members of the EPP Group, several high-level European and Slovakian politicians and well-known experts will participate in the event.
Manfred Weber MEP will hold a press conference at noon on Friday 29 January in the Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel.
