Cancer Prevention

Coming to you from the European Parliament in Brussels, in this episode, we discuss how a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of cancer and outline the environmental factors.

We discuss cancer prevention with our guest MEP, a WHO expert and a hospital pharmacist.

Our main aim on this podcast is to keep you up to date with plans by the EPP Group and indeed the EU to deal with cancer head on – in particular we’re focussing on the work of the Special Committee on Beating Cancer which was set up here in Parliament just a few months ago. We want to make it all a little easier for all of you to understand.

We’re joined by our guest MEP from Portugal Lídia Pereira from the EPP Group, she’s also President of YEPP – The youth organisation of the EPP.

We speak to Joachim Schüz, Head of Environment and Radiation at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is part of the World Health Organisation. He gives us an overview of the main environmental causes of cancer.

Finally, we discuss the risks in the workplace and in particular cytotoxic exposure, which is affecting healthcare staff. We speak to Mirjam Crul, a hospital pharmacist based in Amsterdam.
