1 hour rule to remove online terror content

European authorities could force websites to remove online terrorist content within the hour under a proposed law approved in the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee. The EPP Group’s Rachida Dati, a former French Justice Minister, says it’s an important step towards fighting radicalisation in Europe. The legislation leaves it up to EU Member States to enforce and set the penalties, and it allows for people to challenge a decision to remove the content. Dati says the legislation should have been stronger, though Leftist parties, especially those in France, blocked it.
