Simplified and sustainable fishing

The EPP Group aims to protect the environment while supporting fishermen, their livelihoods, and food security in Europe.

The EU fisheries sector has demonstrated its strategic importance during Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, and most recently, the war in Ukraine. It plays a crucial role in ensuring food security, self-sufficiency in Europe, and reducing food waste.

We advocate for stakeholder consultations and comprehensive socio-economic impact assessments for all measures that affect fishermen and their livelihoods. The EPP Group emphasises tailoring measures to the specific needs of each fishery, fostering flexibility in the sector while maintaining its primary objective: the sustainability of fishery resources.
