Born in 1968. Bulgaria. MA and PhD in political science (Sofia University, 1993, 1999), MA in political philosophy (University of York, 1996); research fellow at New School University (New York, 1992-1993, 1997). Professor in political science, Sofia University (1999→), editor-in-chief of journal REASON. Member of Bulgarian National Assembly (2005-2009); member of the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE (2005-2009); vice-chairman of Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (Blue Coalition). MEP since 2011.
